The Stage Is the Star

While you may be more familiar with the massive, spectacular stages set up for New Year’s Eve celebrations or big-name concerts, there is another kind of stage, a veritable mobile fantasy that can pop up anywhere from a street corner, to a field, to a temple yard. These stage trucks bring glorious colors and scintillating stage performances to any and all corners of Taiwan.

Such stages are more common in the Yunlin, Chiayi, and Tainan areas, where they were born of the frequent festivities that take place around local temples.

As night falls, the stage is set and the audience is waiting in anticipation for another vibrant show that will create more lasting memories of fun and festivity.
