Outside an old home in Anping, Tainan, I happened across a little boy doing all he could to try and pump water out of an old well. He didn't even have a bucket ready, so all the water splashed to the ground and ran away. For someone like me, who grew up in a small rural town, pumping water never seemed like fun--it was just a chore I was sent on every day. But seeing this little boy's smiling face, all I could do was think back on my own childhood and feel the flow of the rivers of time in my heart.
