Dear Editor:
I am Sinorama reader, currently residing in Britain. Presently, I face a dilemma, which I have one chance in a thousand of solving, but to which I shall devote 100% of my energies. I ask for your help in this endeavor.
On May 24 of this year, while traveling in Amsterdam, Holland, I took part in a half-day group bus tour of windmills, as well as clog and cheese factories. In a small town famous for its production of Edam cheese, I took a commemorative photo of a young lady who was on the same bus as me. Only after I had returned to England and had the film developed did I realize that at the time I had forgotten to ask her name and address. I hope to enlist the help of your magazine in locating the proper owner of this photograph, which I am presently unable to deliver, in the hopes that I may be able to send her both the print and the negative.
I recall that she spoke in Mandarin with a Taiwanese accent, and a few other young ladies were traveling with her. One of these other young women is also in the picture. I guess that my friend may perhaps work for some Taiwanese airline. Or perhaps she can be found by searching the list of passengers flying to Holland on Chinese airlines during this time.
Please forgive me for my presumption in writing this letter. I hope that in the midst of your busy schedule, you can help me contact relevant agencies, so that my hopes will not be left unfulfilled.
Editor's reply: According to our reader Deng Wei's request, we hereby publish the photograph he took of the Taiwanese beauty he encountered by chance in his travels. We hope that if any of our readers recognizes this young lady, or even more seren-dipitously, if she herself is a Sinorama reader, they will call or write to our magazine. We will quickly forward your information to Mr. Deng.
Correction
On page 76 of the September issue of Sinorama's Chinese/English domestic edition (October issue of the overseas edition), we mistakenly reported that the Government Information Office's Free China Journal is published in French and Spanish editions. The Free China Journal is in fact published only in English. However, its online edition is already available on the Internet. We apologize to our readers for this inaccuracy.
