Premier Chiang Ching-kuo presided over the joint commencement ceremony of the service schools at the Political Warfare College in Taipei on August 21. The schools holding the commencement were the Chinese Military Academy, the Chinese Naval Academy, the Chinese Air Force Academy and the Chinese Political Warfare College. Premier Chiang urged the graduating cadets and midshipmen to defend the nation and recover the mainland.
President and Mrs. C. K. Yen received the Prime Minister of Swaziland, prince Maphevu Dlamini, and his wife at the Presidential Office on August 23. Prince Maphevu Dlamini arrived on August 20 for a week-long visit at the invitation of the government of the Republic of China. The visiting Prince and his party called on Chinese government officials and visited major economic, cultural and military establishments. At a pre-departure press conference, the Swazi Prime Minister praised the rural development program in Taiwan and said he was deeply impressed by the progress made in the Republic of China.
Both the Republic of China Big League and Senior Little League baseball teams returned to Taipei to receive their nation's thanks and warm welcome on August 30. Both teams won the 1976 World Series Championships in their respective divisions. At a dinner party in their honor, Education Minister Y. S. Tsiang said that adult baseball will be encouraged and outstanding athletes will be given more benefits in the future.
