The Caoshan area of Tainan has a very special topography, with desolate lunar-like surfaces and heavily saline soil unwelcoming to plant life. There are rock lines and cliffs everywhere, and the ridges of the mountains are all barren and saw-toothed in shape. No wonder the locals call it "the Moon World Badlands."
Within the badlands, these free-range chickens, living off the feed given to them by their owner, enjoy a rare bit of greenery in their surroundings. Roaming freely about, they bring a bit of small-town civilization into this otherwise inhospitable space.
