"Coping with Mid-Career Crisis," one of the cover stories of your September issue, reads like it could have been written specifically with me in mind. I am partially disabled, having been badly burned in three places, and I taught at an elementary school for 21 years. Unfortunately, I was recently let go. I plan to find a teaching job at a private school and work there until I am 50, before changing careers. In the meantime, I have been enjoying my pastime of writing. People say that "things work out in time." Because I'm good at taking photographs, perhaps I will look for work as a photojournalist. Or maybe I will get a job as a tour guide, or try opening a photo studio for wedding portraits. Things really will work out in time. Maybe, like the famous Chinese story about the old man losing his mare on the frontier, my being laid off will turn out to be a blessing in disguise.
