ISD is Officially Opened Between Taiwan and Vietnam
The Directorate-General of Telecommunications has announced that as of the appointed day, full International Subscriber Dialing has been opened between Taiwan and Vietnam, but that thus far the operational area is limited to Ho Chi Minh City.
The DGT indicated that in view of the increasing substantive economic relations between the R.O.C. and Vietnam, and because Ho Chi Minh City is the concentration point for R.O.C businessmen, the service was officially opened.
In terms of fees, the DGT pointed out that the cost for operated assisted calls in the past was NT$345 per three minutes, and NT$85 per minute thereafter; there was no discount time period. Now, the fee for ordinary times (7:00-24:00 daily) is NT$10 for each six seconds in the first minute, and NT$7.5 per six seconds thereafter. Further, during the discount period (24:00--7:00 the following day) the cost is NT$7 per six seconds in the first minute, and NT$5.2 per six seconds thereafter.
As for ordinary telephones possessed by the general public, the cost is NT$10 for six seconds at ordinary times, and NT$10 per nine seconds during the discount period.
