The latest in card innovations, the musical card, is becoming the new fashion in exchanging greetings. While at first glance it appears the same as any other card, it plays music to celebrate a whole range of occasions when opened.
The music is provided by a tiny single-component circuit about as thin as a credit card, which is inserted inside the greeting card and is programmed to chime and play tunes when activated.
Presently available are cards for such important occasions as birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, Mother's Day and of course Christmas. The musical pieces run the whole gamut from Happy Birthday to Home Sweet Home, to a variety of Christmas standards.
Future plans for this trend in gifts call for stores to be equipped with computer-recorders that will print any message and produce a circuit that can be easily fitted inside a card.
More and more people looking for an original gift are buying the card that not only delivers its message in written words, but sings them as well.
