Readers may notice a change this month in Sinorame. The new year always brings new hopes, and we take this opportunity to embark in new directions.
As Taiwan's largest overseas-oriented publication, we tackle in this issue a topic of concern to our readers--the image of the Chinese people--discussing Chinese characteristics with both Chinese and foreigners. This image affects the treatment of overseas Chinese abroad and our country's international political and economic policies. You can expect similar articles in the future.
Other new developments include our new sections, Communication Channels, Song of the Month, Book Review, and Fiction. Communication Channels will provide entry and exit travel, school, trade, and visa information. Song of the Month will introduce a contemporary best-selling tune for our music fans. Fiction this month selects the short story "Marriage," which has been adapted into a Golden Horse Award-winning movie. Book Review every issue will discuss new and noteworthy works, beginning this month with "Ch'i Chun's Words to Little Readers," winner of a Golden Tripod Award. Finally, for our photography buffs, we present a selection of pictures taken by Taiwan photographers in the 1960s.
We hope these additions will make Sinorama better meet our readers' needs. We await your feedback.
