Cats are animals that cannot be controlled by humans. Stray cats are even more unpredictable in their comings and goings. Those amazing movements or expressions find a perfect backdrop, never to be repeated. Cats always follow their own impulses. Even strays retain their strong sense of dignity as they survey their surroundings, looking like aristocratic animals lost in the human world. That is to say they are only passing through this world, taking no part in its struggles.
Cats may be silent, but it is as if you could hear them speak through their slinking movements. From a black-and-white image of a cat, we can "hear" its language beyond mewing. We can see the cat's ethereal existence through its interactions with its environment, with people, or with other cats. The next time you come across a cat on the street, don't just appreciate its delicate movements-take the opportunity to listen to its language.
There are many pictures and products on the market with "fantasy"-style images of cats, but I try a journalistic approach to photographing them. I don't feed them or set up shots. I wait patiently, documenting all the movements of strays so as to give the viewer a new perspective on these amazing creatures around them.
