Ever seen a carnival parade nearly 10,000 strong?
No? Well, then, come closer.
The time: the afternoon of Saturday, October 20, 2007. The place: Taipei, from Jen-ai Road to Ketagalan Boulevard in front of the Presidential Palace. Artists from more than 20 countries around the world congregated here: local and foreign, male and female, young and old, they pitted their artistic skills against each other. At once, the tree-lined boulevard swarmed with mammoths, dinosaurs, clownfish and Formosan blue magpies, accompanied by African drums and Aboriginal music. Middle-Eastern belly dancers gyrated their graceful figures, and floats vaunting the Eight Generals sword dance, Aladdin's lamp, fire-breathing dragons, bullfrogs and other themes advanced majestically. Everyone danced wildly as they tried to top each other's creativity and passion, all for the 2007 Dream Parade, whose theme was hope and whose mission was to protect animals. People of different cultures, with different instruments and rhythms, joined together on Taipei's streets to share in the joy. This day, everyone was the consummate artist.
Miss the festivities? Don't forget, we're hitting the streets again in 2008!

Seen here are the Alladin's lamp float, Venetian masks, a dinosaur chasing a rooster, and...who the heck is that? This is the Dream Parade! Oh, the variety! It has everything!
