Taiwan's Big Little Things

In Men in Black, a 1997 comedic film about aliens on Earth, an alien reproaches Agent J, played by Will Smith, telling him, “You humans. When are you gonna learn that size doesn’t matter? Just ’cause something’s important doesn’t mean it’s not very, very small.”

Taiwan’s fastener makers may be small, but the nuts, bolts and other hardware they produce in bewildering variety are  indispensable.

In a market where the big get bigger, Taiwan’s unique small eateries and coffee shops have bucked the trend. Here, character is more important than size, and you can experience Taiwanese-style hospitality up close.

Miniature artists focus on the smallest of details, recording and representing Taiwanese culture at the micrometer scale.

Taiwan is rich in biological diversity, and a veritable “kingdom of ferns” that is home to an incredible variety of fern species relative to our land area.

In short, it’s not size that matters, but character and ability!
