A shepherd is apprehensive and takes extra care when he finds a wolf lingering near his flock. But the wolf simply follows the flock wherever it goes for several months. Eventually, the farmer decides the wolf is harmless and lowers his guard. He even adopts the wolf and teaches it how to look after the sheep. One day when the shepherd goes to town on business, the wolf sees the chance it has been waiting for, and leads the sheep away to their doom. The shepherd failed to realize the true nature of the wolf, and is fooled by its treachery. The moral is that we should be careful in distinguishing between friend and foe.
